Lg. Wild Kaffir Plum Tree (harpephyllum caffrum)

Wild Kaffir Plum Tree, Harpephyllum caffrum, is a handsome and distinctive shade tree admired for its dense crown and attractive foliage. Glossy green, sickle-shaped leaves cluster toward the tips of the branches, forming a thick canopy that provides generous shade and a lush presence in the landscape.
Throughout summer, clusters of whitish-green flowers appear at the ends of the branches, later giving way to small, plum-like fruits. These miniature fruits are pleasantly flavorful and are often used for jams and jellies. As they ripen, they also become a magnet for birds and wildlife.
Mature trees can reach up to 40 feet tall and develop rough, dark gray-brown bark that adds texture and character. The branches curve upward, creating a rounded, balanced silhouette that works beautifully in larger gardens and parks.
Thriving in warm climates with full sun to partial shade, Wild Kaffir Plum performs best in USDA Zones 9B to 11. With its glossy foliage, useful fruit, and wildlife appeal, it makes a rewarding addition to tropical and subtropical landscapes.
