Two-Sided Distichous Fishtail Palm (wallichia disticha) (small starter tree)

Because of its highly unusual leaf arrangement, the leaves grow in two vertical columns on opposite sides of the trunk, this is one of the most intriguing and sought out palms on the globe. The numerous fronds are narrow and fishtail-shaped with leaflets arranged in clusters and spread in several planes, giving the leaf a feathery appearance. Wallichia disticha is a medium sized palm and grows extremely fast once established. Native to northeastern India and Burma, it is highly adaptable and succeeds very well in climates ranging from warm temperate to tropical.
