Natal Mutuba Fig Tree (ficus natalensis)

aka Mutuba or Natal fig, this is a small to medium-size tree, up to 40 feet in height. Natalensis has an extensive system of aerial roots, a trunk covered by smooth grayish bark, glossy green leaves and orange-reddish or yellowish figs that are clustered at the base of the branches. Traditionally, Ficus Natalensis had a multitude of uses, from making bark cloth and ropes, to artisanal objects. A wonderful ornamental for tropical climates.
