Madagascar Corkscrew Flower Bush (strophanthus boivinii)

Striking twisted and curly-queued, yellow to deep orange petals with hints of a rust coloration, bloom from the branches in clusters and almost appear artificial hanging on the tree. What a fun tree to have growing in the tropical garden and is sure to be a conversation piece among visitors. Happy to grow in either sun or shade Boivinii will flourish in a wide range of soils, although in a moister soil it will flower less freely but over a longer period. Once established it is drought tolerant. Smaller in size it lends itself well to container growing where space is limited in the landscape.
