Canistel Eggfruit (pouteria campechiana)


Called Eggfruit due in part to the texture of the pulp being similar to the yolk of a hard-boiled egg. The flavor of the fruit is delicious, sweet and somewhat like that of a baked sweet potato. Fruit may be enjoyed alone or with salt, pepper and squeeze of lime.
