Australia Davidsons Plum (davidsonia pruriens)

More antioxidants than a blueberry! Large clusters of brilliant colored fruit in dark blue-purple on the outside and a florescent reddish-pink on the inside appear on the delicate stems of this small tree following the glowing pink, small flowers. Large pinnate leaves with toothed margins give a weeping appearance to the tree. Fruiting begins around 5 to 6 years of age and the slightly sour fruit is most enjoyed sweetened as a jam or stewed. Innately a rainforest native, the tree prefers dappled sun to partial shady locations. This is a beautiful foliage tree for the southern landscape.
