Rare, robust, stocky and only native to the island of Bermuda. This great palm forms a sturdy trunk that rarely reaches more than 33 feet tall. Fronds are broad and rigid with the leaf blade splitting to only half its length. Large, slightly pear-shaped edible fruits readily distinguish this palm. Considered to be very easy and adaptable, Bermuda is a palm that will grow in temperate areas just as well as in the tropics and can take a good amount of frost and cold, once established.
