Foot Long has extremely large deep ruby-red fruit not quite a foot long but our on site tree produces very large fruit 4 to 7 inches long and 3/8 inch in diameter. The flesh is firmer than most other cultivars with a sweet fine balance of flavors. Quality of the fruit is excellent and the tree has a spreading habit with large dinner plate sized, heart-shaped leaves. Botanically the fruit is not a berry but a collective fruit in appearance like a swollen loganberry. When the flowers are pollinated they and their fleshy bases begin to swell. Ultimately they become completely altered in texture and color becoming succulent fat and full of juice.
